About Remco

Street skater Remco Erkeland (born in 2001 in Goirle) needs no introduction to many in the skateboarding scene. Since 2012, he has been seen everywhere and anywhere on his board, training for hours on end in his specialisation. His technical skills and creativity often lead to competition participation at home and abroad. And there, he repeatedly demonstrates that he has the potential to skate at the top international level.

“It’s about so much more than titles and medals alone. It’s about joy, passion and wishing the best of one another.”

Around the world

What started as a chance encounter has now become Remco’s full-time job. Together with his girlfriend (also active in the scene) and with the backing of a loyal group of sponsors, he travels throughout the Netherlands and around the world to show off his skills. In 2022, his efforts were rewarded with the title of Dutch Street Skating Champion. Since then, he has achieved numerous podium places at major international competitions.

Remco: “Skateboarding is what I want to do; a feeling that has only grown stronger over the years. Of course, I always go for the win and dream of participating in the Olympics. But for me, it’s about much more than just titles and medals. It’s also about knowing that I’ve pushed myself to the limit. And about showing the world the real skateboarding culture. Because that’s mainly about having fun while sharing a passion. About accepting each other as you are. And about letting others have their moment. Because even during major skateboarding competitions, if my opponent lands a good trick, I cheer for them too.”

Performing and having fun

Everyone who knows him will agree: Remco’s skateboard is not a separate object, but has become an extension of his identity. That’s why training never feels like a chore to him. Not even when he spends hours working on the same trick. “Even if I deliberately don’t take my skateboard with me when I go to see friends, for example, I still end up at a skate park with a with a borrowed board. I just love being on my board. A day off? No way, I’m not interested in that at all. I lie in bed at night thinking about where I can train the next day.
